ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - At least three people were killed and 14 others wounded in a “terrorist” attack targeting the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) headquarters in Ankara on Wednesday afternoon, according to a top Turkish government official.
"Unfortunately, there were 3 martyrs and 14 injuries in the attack,” Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a post on social media platform X.
In the attack, which started with an explosion targeting the gate of TUSAS, and followed by gunfire, “two terrorists were neutralized,” Yerlikaya added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Video footage and images circulating on social media showed armed assailants including a woman entering the TUSAS headquarters and reportedly taking a number of employees hostage.
"I condemn this heinous attack. Our struggle will continue with determination and resolve until the last terrorist is neutralized,” the Turkish interior minister said.
Founded in 1973, TUSAS is one of Turkey’s major defense industry facilities which manufactures engines.
