ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States and Israel of coordinating with “terrorist” groups in Syria, claiming they are working to destabilize the country in an effort to divert attention from Israeli crimes.
During a press conference with his Turkish counterpart in Ankara on Sunday, Araghchi expressed concern over the resurgence of terrorism in northern Syria, warning that it threatens the stability of the entire region.
“The return of terrorism to northern Syria is concerning, and all countries in the region will be affected by this,” he said.
Araghchi reiterated Iran's firm stance that all “terrorist groups” operating in Syria must be eradicated and rejected, referring to them as an Israeli project aimed at destabilizing the country.
“We reaffirm our full support for Syria, its government, and its people, and we will continue to stand by them to protect security and stability in the country,” Araghchi added.
Before arriving in Ankara, Araghchi visited Damascus, where he met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Describing his trip as “very good,” Araghchi praised Damascus for overcoming significant challenges and reaffirmed Iran's commitment to supporting Assad, the Syrian government, the army, and the Syrian people.
