ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – At least ten people were killed and 32 others wounded in a fire that erupted at a 12-storey hotel in Kartalkaya ski resort, Turkey’s northern Bolu city, according to state-owned media.

“Fire extinguishing efforts continue uninterruptedly, and the treatment of our injured continues in our hospitals in our city," according to a statement from the Governorship of Bolu.

The statement adds that 85 vehicles and 231 personnel, particularly 30 firefighters and 28 ambulances, were dispatched to the scene of the fire by public institutions and organizations in Bolu and surrounding provinces.

The fire broke out on the restaurant floor at the hotel, where around 234 guests were staying, around 3:30 a.m.

Aydin added that two of the deaths happened as a result of panic jumping.

“One is a hotel attendant, and the other is a guest. We are working to identify the third person,” according to the governor. “The response to the fire continues,”.

As of this writing, the reason for the fire's outbreak is still undetermined. Extensive efforts to control and extinguish the fire continue.
