“I wish PM Salam and his cabinet success in bringing security, stability and prosperity for the people of Lebanon,” PM Barzani said.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani welcomed on Sunday the formation of the Lebanese government under the leadership of Nawaf Salam.

“Congratulations to Lebanon on the formation of a new government led by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam,” Prime Minister Barzani wrote on X.

“I wish PM Salam and his cabinet success in bringing security, stability and prosperity for the people of Lebanon,” PM Barzani said, adding that “the KRG stands ready to help.”

The Kurdistan Region and Lebanon enjoy close ties.

On the occasion of Joseph Aoun's election as the president of Lebanon, the Kurdish leadership, notably President Nechirvan Barzani and PM Barzani, hoped his election would strengthen cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Lebanon in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both sides.

Lebanese PM Salam named his cabinet ministers on Saturday.

After naming his cabinet, Salan hoped to rebuild trust with the international community after years of economic collapse blamed on corruption.

Salam’s government needs to implement grassroots reforms to unlock funding from international donors and make sure a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is not breached.

He said the new Lebanese government will do its best to "restore trust between citizens and the state, between Lebanon and its Arab surroundings, and between Lebanon and the international community. “

The new Lebanese government will hold its first session on Tuesday morning, the presidency said in a post on X.
