ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced the completion of a 100-bed hospital in Deraluk town, Duhok province. The $43 million hospital, equipped with “cutting-edge” medical technology, will provide healthcare services to over 250,000 people in the region.
"The $43 million facility, established under the Ninth Cabinet, is set to provide essential healthcare services to over 250,000 residents in the region,” read a statement by the KRG.
The statement added that “the state-of-the-art” Hetit Public Hospital spans 250,000 square meters and is "equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and staffed by highly trained professionals.”
The hospital offers "a comprehensive range of medical services, including: emergency and primary care; six major and minor operating rooms; dialysis, mammography and ultrasound units; a fully equipped laboratory; obstetrics and neonatal care; intensive care and specialised treatment; microscopy, laparoscopy and natural treatment services; and a dedicated pharmacy.”
The KRG said the facility would soon be operational.
It will "significantly improve healthcare accessibility and quality for Amedi and the surrounding areas.”
During a ceremony in mid-September to lay the foundation of a cancer hospital, believed to be the largest of its kind across Iraq, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani said his government cabinet has prioritized reforms in the health sector while medical tourism in the Kurdistan Region is booming.
“The Kurdistan Regional Government is exerting maximum efforts to improve the health sector,” PM Barzani said.
One key objective of the KRG’s ninth cabinet has been to improve the healthcare system in the Kurdistan Region by using cutting-edge medical technologies.
Over a week ago, more than 150 local and international companies took part in the Erbil International Health Exhibition (MEDICO), the first and largest health exhibition across Iraq, an event that was designed to showcase “groundbreaking innovations and the future of health care.”
