Iranian police announced that Iraq assisted in stopping three vehicles carrying drones and explosives, as part of a wider security operation across Iran.

DUBAI, UAE - Iraq helped stop vehicles loaded with drones and explosives, Iranian police said on Wednesday, as Iran reported destroying 14 drones and uncovering several weapon workshops in the past 24 hours.

Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi said the drones were shot down across the country and a workshop for making suicide drones and quadcopters was found in the central city of Isfahan.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the spokesperson said that other operations in Tehran and Alborz Province led to the discovery of several workshops producing drone parts and explosive devices.

Mahdi also said three vehicles carrying drones and explosives were stopped in Tehran and Alborz. He credited Iraq’s border cooperation with Iran for helping to detect and stop the vehicles before they could reach their targets.

The IRGC’s intelligence division said it had “identified and arrested” five suspected Mossad agents in Iran’s Lorestan Province, according to IRGC-affiliated media on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the conflict between Iran and Israel, there have been reports of Israeli drones being launched from inside Iran by Mossad operatives targeting Iranian facilities.

The arrests reportedly came after Iranian police tracked and arrested the suspects.
