ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Iraqi police said Saturday they arrested a man who allegedly carried out a attack over a financial dispute in Tuz Khurmatu, Salahaddin province, killing one person and wounding three others.
The Salahaddin Police Command said in a statement carried by The New Region that the suspect, identified as M. A. F. al-Dawoodi, used a Kalashnikov rifle to shoot at people in the district over an old tribal feud. The attack killed one victim, identified as F. A. J., and left three others injured.
Police said units from Tuz Police, Tuz Intelligence, and Salahaddin security forces, with supervision from the Salahaddin police chief and coordination with Kirkuk police, tracked down the suspect within two hours.
He was arrested in Kirkuk while hiding in a friend’s house. Officers also seized the weapon allegedly used in the attack and the vehicle he was driving.

The police command said the man was detained under Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which covers murder. Authorities stressed that they remain committed to protecting security and taking firm action against criminals.
Earlier in the day, a security official told The New Region that armed clashes had broken out in Tuz Khurmatu, leaving three people wounded, including one in serious condition who later died.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the violence was triggered by a financial dispute. Security forces later cordoned off the area and brought the situation under control.
