Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said they are “ready for the immediate reception of all our hostages," and that Palestinian prisoners would be "released once Israel has confirmation that all of our hostages set to be released tomorrow are across the border into Israel."

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Israeli authorities on Sunday announced their preparedness to receive their hostages held by Hamas in Gaza on Monday as part of the first phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, coming as Egypt readies to hold a high-level summit aimed at securing the ceasefire on the same day.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said they are “ready for the immediate reception of all our hostages," and that Palestinian prisoners would be "released once Israel has confirmation that all of our hostages set to be released tomorrow are across the border into Israel."

A source close to negotiators told AFP on Sunday that Hamas and its allied militant groups had "completed all preparations" for handing all the living hostages and some of the deceased ones held in Gaza over to Israel.

US Vice President JD Vance told Fox News on Sunday that the hostages are expected to be home within 24 hours, further explaining that forces from US Central Command (CENTCOM) would oversee the ceasefire.

"We're going to have CENTCOM troops that are already there that are going to monitor this peace proposal," he said, stressing that the US will not have “boots on the ground in Gaza or Israel.”

Also on Monday, Egypt will hold an international summit at the Red Sea city of Sharm el-Sheikh, which “aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to bring peace and stability to the Middle East, and usher in a new phase of regional security and stability,” Egypt’s presidency said in a statement on Sunday.

The summit will be co-chaired by Trump and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with the presence of more than 20 world leaders.

On Sunday, the Egyptian foreign ministry said a "document ending the war in the Gaza Strip" was expected to be signed during the "historic" gathering.

None of the warring sides will attend the summit, with Netanyahu saying no Israeli officials would be present, following earlier confirmation that Hamas would not send representatives.

Among those expected to attend are UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Jordan's King Abdullah II, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Hamas agreed to the initial stage of the Gaza ceasefire deal, which includes the release of 48 Israeli hostages in exchange for 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 Gazans held by Israel since the war broke out. Hamas has also insisted that seven Palestinian leaders be freed in the hostage-prisoner swap.

"Hamas insists that the final list include seven senior leaders, most notably Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Saadat, Ibrahim Hamed, and Abbas al-Sayyed," a well-informed source told AFP on Sunday.

Gaza’s civil defense reported over half a million people returned to Gaza City by Saturday evening, a day after the ceasefire took effect.
