ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday received a delegation from the US-Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC), highlighting the significance of American investment in the Region.
The USKBC is a non-profit trade group of American companies who are investing in the Kurdistan Region, dedicated to strengthening economic relations between the US private sector and the Region.
The council’s president, David Tafuri, presented the premier with “a summary regarding the purpose of their visit and the composition of the delegation to the Kurdistan Region,” according to a statement from Barzani’s office.
On the other hand, Barzani briefed the group about the current cabinet’s reform efforts in various sectors, “particularly energy and natural gas,” emphasizing “the importance of developing American company investments in the Kurdistan Region.”
In September, the Kurdish premier reiterated the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) readiness to provide assistance to both foreign and domestic investors in the Kurdistan Region in a meeting with a US Chamber of Commerce delegation.
There are over 3.500 foreign companies from around the world conducting business in the Kurdistan Region, according to official data. Since 2023, more than 450 investment permits have been issued to investors in the Region, with projects in the fields of tourism, industry, agriculture, health, and education taking precedence.
