ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on US military bases across the Gulf on Saturday, following coordinated strikes earlier in the day by the United States and Israel inside Iranian territory.
Blasts have been reported in Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Kuwait, all of which house US armed forces personnel.
Explosions were heard in Manama after warning sirens sounded across Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy Fifth Fleet. Iraqi state media reported explosions near the Al-Juffair base, a key site for US naval operations in the region.

Bahrain’s National Communication Centre confirmed that attacks targeting sites within the kingdom were launched from outside its territory, calling them a “blatant violation” of national sovereignty.
Authorities said emergency response plans were immediately activated and necessary field measures were taken.
The Bahraini government strongly condemned the strikes and affirmed its right to respond in coordination with allies and partners. Officials urged residents to remain calm, limit road use, and rely only on official sources for updates.
Meanwhile, explosions were also reported in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Initial reports indicated that Iranian missiles were intercepted in Emirati airspace.
The UAE Ministry of Interior said it is closely monitoring regional developments and remains at the highest level of readiness.
The ministry confirmed that precautionary measures have been taken in coordination with relevant authorities, stressing that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains the top priority.
In Qatar, authorities said the situation remains stable and secure. Local media reported that a missile was intercepted using the Patriot air defense system.
The US embassy in Doha issued a warning to American citizens, advising them to shelter in place until further notice due to concerns over possible additional strikes.
The retaliatory attacks followed a large-scale US-Israeli operation earlier Saturday targeting sites inside Iran. Tehran had previously warned that any attack on its territory would trigger strikes against American military assets in the region.
Missiles have also been seeing in the airspace over the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Syria.
