ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – At least one member of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) was injured in airstrikes targeting one of the force's positions in Babil's Jurf al-Sakhar on Sunday, the PMF said in a statement.
The "medical unit" of the PMF-affiliated Jazeera Operations Command in Jurf al-Sakhar "was subjected to a US-led airstrike involving four air raids," the PMF said in a statement.
"This attack resulted in the injury of one of the members of the medical unit, as well as material damage to the targeted site," it added.
The US and Israel have repeatedly targeted the Jurf al-Sakhar since the beginning of their war with Iran. The strikes have inflicted casualties on Iran-backed groups stationed in the area. Earlier in March, the PMF said that a "treacherous" strike killed at least one member and wounded another in Jurf al-Sakhar.
In late February, Iraq's Joint Operations Command announced several airstrikes targeted the town, killing at least two, while sources in Kataib Hezbollah, a salient pro-Iran group designated as a terrorist organization by Washington, said that two of its members were killed.
"The Popular Mobilization Forces continue to play their role in protecting the region, enhancing security, and preserving the country's sovereignty despite the ongoing aggression against their units," said PMF.
Pro-Iran factions in Iraq, such as Saraya Awliya al-Dam, have incessantly targeted US diplomatic and military missions across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Myriad other sites, including civilian buildings such as hotels, have also been targeted across Iraq as the war keeps unfolding.
