Iraq’s ruling Shiite Coordination Framework said attacks have killed more than 100 security and military personnel, while renewing its rejection of violations of Iraqi sovereignty and calling to keep the country out of regional conflicts.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Iraq’s ruling Shiite Coordination Framework said on Monday that more than 100 members of Iraqi security and military forces have been killed since the start of the US-Israel war with Iran, renewing its rejection of violations of Iraqi sovereignty, particularly the use of its airspace for attacks on neighboring countries, and calling for keeping Iraq out of regional conflicts.

Leaders of the Shiite bloc held their weekly meeting on Sunday, condemning attacks targeting security and military units, saying they resulted in heavy casualties and underscored the need to protect state institutions and maintain stability.

They stressed the importance of strengthening the readiness of security forces to face ongoing challenges, while ensuring the protection of diplomatic missions and vital facilities across the country.

The Coordination Framework also warned that targeting the residence of Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, along with other locations, reflects attempts by external actors to destabilize Iraq and “mix the cards,” calling for greater vigilance and national coordination.

Pro-Iran armed groups operating under the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have targeted US interests in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, prompting the retaliatory strikes.

Since the start of the war, US-Israeli strikes have repeatedly targeted positions of the state-incorporated Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which comprises dozens of armed factions that are affiliated with Iran. More than 80 PMF fighters have been killed in the attack.

The Iraqi interior ministry on Saturday said a regiment of Nineveh Police was targeted in a “treacherous Zionist-American aggression,” resulting in at least two killed and five others wounded.

Harakat al-Nujaba, an Iran-backed faction, last week called for ending security cooperation with Washington in light of the attacks.

Iraq and the United States on Friday announced a joint committee to boost coordination and prevent the use of Iraqi territory for attacks.
