Trump described his administration’s relationship with Iran as “different” and “better” than previous Washington administrations, while revealing plans to “destroy” Iran’s nuclear dust “at the appropriate time.”

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – US President Donald Trump said Saturday that a deal with Iran is “scheduled to get signed tomorrow,” claiming that the Strait of Hormuz will “immediately” be “open to all” once the agreement is inked.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump slammed the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed during President Barrack Obama’s tenure, saying the deal “was an easy, beautiful, smooth, road to a nuclear weapon,” while lauding his own potential agreement with Iran as “a wall to no nuclear weapon.”

“In fact, they [Iran] no longer want a nuclear weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement. The deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all,” read the post from Trump.

During his first term in 2018, Trump unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA, a landmark agreement between Tehran and world powers to curb Iran’s nuclear program in return for sanctions relief.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said earlier on Saturday that the United States and Iran are “closer to a peace deal than ever before,” adding that the accord is likely to be finalized within 24 hours, with technical discussions to begin next week.

Despite Trump’s comments, Iran has stated that it has no plans to visit Geneva “or anywhere else” in the next two days, amid reports that the Swiss city would be the venue for the landmark deal.

“Regarding the exact time of signing the memorandum, we have to wait; although it will not be tomorrow, the possibility that it will happen in the coming days is not ruled out,” said Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei hours prior to Trump’s post.

Trump described his administration’s relationship with Iran as “different” and “better” than previous Washington administrations, while revealing plans to “destroy” Iran’s nuclear dust “at the appropriate time.”

“At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the nuclear dust, buried deep under the powerful sunken granite mountains… and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States,” Trump said.

“We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future. Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!“ Trump concluded.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stressed that the accord will be inked “remotely” - a notion corroborated by the Pakistani premier saying that Islamabad “is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after [finalization].”
