ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - US President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to launch powerful attacks targeting an alleged new nuclear site in Iran “pretty soon,” while reiterating that Tehran has asked to continue negotiations.

A report from the Wall Street Journal on Monday, citing US and Israeli officials, claimed that Israel has told Washington that its intelligence believes Iran has moved thousands of uranium-enrichment centrifuges into tunnels deep inside Pickaxe mountain, a site in the Natanz area which was heavily struck during last year’s June War.

During a press conference at the White House with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump said that Washington does not have the information mentioned in the report “on the record,” while stressing that moving centrifuges doesn’t mean anything “unless they have the material.”

Regardless of the veracity of the reports, the American President asserted that the US is not “finished at all” with Iran, and plans to attack the alleged new nuclear site “pretty soon.”

“We will absolutely attack the new site that they’re talking about… Any site where they’re even thinking about nuclear we’ll be hitting it very powerfully,” said Trump.

“We’ll be hitting that area probably pretty soon, and there’s not a thing they can do about it.”

In April 2025, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi vehemently denied reports that tunnels were being secretly constructed near the Natanz nuclear site.

Iran’s key nuclear sites, Natanz and Fordow, were subjected to heavy US bombardment near the end of the 12-Day War between Iran and Israel in June 2025.

The Pickaxe site was not targeted during last year’s strike, and has reportedly not been targeted in the renewed hostilities since February either.

Trump has repeatedly boasted about the extensive damage done to Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities since the outbreak of the current war, which he claims has rendered Tehran incapable of building a nuclear weapon.

“If we left today, it would take them decades to rebuild, and I don’t believe they could ever rebuild, and, honestly, they haven’t seen anything yet. We have been nice,” said Trump.

On Monday, Axios reported that Tehran and Washington are still holding talks regarding a possible ceasefire despite the surging violence between them.

When asked about Iran’s alleged lack of willingness to return to the negotiation table, Trump stated: “You don’t know what the dialogue is behind the scenes, that they want to meet desperately to try and end it.”

The US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to bring the months-long hostilities between them to an end on June 19, but the agreement was short-lived as the two sides resumed violence only 21 days later and have since engaged in daily exchanges of fire.
