ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Fresh Iranian drone strikes targeted a base of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in Erbil province’s Koya on Friday morning, without resulting in any deaths or injuries, a senior party member told The New Region.

“This morning, the Islamic Republic once again launched a drone attack on the headquarters of the Democratic Party. In this new attack, two drones targeted a base of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran in Koya,” the party said in a statement.

The attack marks the fourth Iranian aggression targeting bases of the exiled opposition group over the past week.

“The attacks have intensified over the past week,” Mohammed Nazif Ghaderi, a senior figure in the KDPI and member of the party’s executive committee, told The New Region, adding: “Fortunately, this morning’s attack did not result in any casualties.”

“Iran continues its policy of aggression and violating the Kurdistan Region and military and civilian infrastructure belonging to the parties,” Ghaderi added.

The Kurdistan Region has come under hundreds of drone and missile attacks from Iran and its Iraqi proxies since the beginning of the war with the US and Israel, predominantly targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in the Region.

At least three have been killed and nine others injured in the Iranian attacks on KDPI bases in the Kurdistan Region since the start of the war.

Iran has fired at least 76 Shahed drones, 55 Hadid-110 drones, 13 BM-21 Grad rockets, and four ballistic missiles at KDPI bases in the Kurdistan Region since late February, according to data collected by the party and provided to The New Region.

Clashes have also routinely taken place between the Kurdish opposition groups and the Islamic republic’s forces in western Iran’s Kurdish-majority regions (Rojhelat) since June, leading to casualties on both sides on several occasions.

On July 2, the KDPI said five of its members were killed in overnight clashes with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in an area known as Qisqapan near the city of Piranshahr.

The KDPI on Friday said its medical and educational centers in the Kurdistan Region have been targeted with more than 145 missiles and drones since the beginning of the war with the US and Israel.
