ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The bases of the Iranian opposition Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil province were targeted by two Iranian missile strikes early Wednesday, with no casualties reported.

The Islamic republic attacked the KDPI’s bases in Erbil province’s Balisan area with “two missiles” early Wednesday, KDPI-affiliated media said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has targeted the family camps of the KDPI, as well as the party's medical and educational facilities, with more than 152 missiles and drones [since the start of the war],” said the KDPI media.

Iran has fired at least 76 Shahed drones, 55 Hadid-110 drones, 13 BM-21 Grad rockets, and four ballistic missiles at KDPI bases in the Kurdistan Region since late February, according to data collected by the party and provided to The New Region.

Additionally, at least four drones were intercepted in Erbil province’s Soran, Harir, and Khalifan areas early Wednesday, according to information obtained by The New Region. There have been no official reports on the attacks.

On Tuesday, at least two members of the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan (Zahmatkeshan) were lightly injured after Iranian missile strikes targeted one of its bases in Erbil’s Soran district, a party official said.

In mid-July, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) struck a Zahmatkeshan base, wounding at least six members, according to the party.

Tehran had previously in May declared the Kurdistan Region a site of “hostile bases” under its security doctrine, warning that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had been given the same designation, making both subject to preemptive strikes.

The Kurdistan Region has long insisted upon its neutrality in the broader regional conflict and repeatedly condemned Iranian strikes.
