ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday denied reports of Iranian strikes on the Al Minhad Air Base, hours after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have targeted the base in retaliation for US strikes on Larak Island.

Media affiliated with the IRGC said on Monday morning that it had targeted the base with “dozens of drones” following US strikes on two missile launchers on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz.

“‎The Ministry of Defence has denied media reports claiming that Al Menhad Air Base was targeted by missiles, confirming that such reports are false,” the Emirati defense ministry said in a statement later on Monday, urging the public to rely on official channels for information.

The defense ministry said that its forces remain on a “high state of readiness to respond to any threats that may arise, in a manner that safeguards the UAE’s sovereignty, security and stability.”

The US struck two IRGC missile launchers Sunday on Larak Island that it said were readying to launch mine-laden missiles toward the Strait of Hormuz.

The exchange of strikes came after Iran and Oman on Tuesday discussed a “phased” framework that could provide a “practical and workable basis” for restoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a joint statement said on Tuesday.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes were conducted in a “limited, precise” fashion, noting that the launchers presented an “imminent threat” in the Strait.

In addition to the UAE, Iran’s IRGC also said it had targeted two US bases in Jordan, Malik Hussein and al-Azraq, as retaliation for the Larak Island strikes.

The Guard also claimed to have downed a long-range American MQ-9 drone in the early hours of Monday over the Strait of Hormuz, which “fell” into the water.
