ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday opened the Seventh International Real Estate Investment Exhibition in Erbil, which saw the participation of around 300 companies from 12 different countries.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has intensified efforts in recent years to diversify its revenue sources and make the Region an appealing destination for international businesses.
“What started with 100+ companies from 12 countries has since grown into a multi-city, multi-country movement. Today, Invest Expo is recognized as the premier annual gathering for real estate, infrastructure, and investment professionals across the Middle East,” the Invest Expo said.
This year, nearly 300 companies participated in the event, according to information obtained by The New Region.
The premier was seen walking around the venue to observe plans for a variety of innovative real estate projects, including "smart" urban projects that avail of the latest technology and initiatives relating to sustainable development.
The Kurdistan Region on Monday received an award at the UAE’s 2026 Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress for its success in attracting foreign direct investment.
According to Invest Expo numbers, over $25 billion has been invested in the Kurdistan Region since 2006, with property value having increased by 75 times over the past decade.
Erbil is also set to host traders and investors from Turkey and Azerbaijan for an investment summit in September.
The summit aims to attract investors from the two countries by showcasing investment opportunities across the Kurdistan Region, encouraging them to invest independently in various sectors or in partnership with local investors.
