US Central Command (CENTCOM) and Iraqi Security Forces conducted a successful raid in Western Iraq on August 29, killing 15 ISIS members.

DUBAI, UAE - US Central Command (CENTCOM) and Iraqi Security Forces conducted a joint operation in Western Iraq on August 29, killing 15 ISIS members, CENTCOM announced on Saturday.

The raid, which took place in the early morning hours, targeted ISIS leaders in an effort to disrupt and degrade the group's ability to plan and carry out attacks.

The ISIS members encountered were heavily armed with weapons, grenades, and explosive suicide belts, according to the statement released by CENTCOM. The statement noted that there were no civilian casualties reported during the operation.

“This operation was a direct strike against ISIS leadership, aimed at reducing their capacity to threaten Iraqi civilians, as well as US citizens, allies, and partners throughout the region and beyond,” the statement said.

Iraqi Security Forces are continuing to exploit the locations that were raided to gather further intelligence and disrupt ISIS activities in the area.

Despite ongoing efforts to eliminate ISIS, the group remains a significant threat to regional stability and security. CENTCOM emphasized that the US and its coalition partners, alongside Iraqi forces, will continue to pursue ISIS aggressively to prevent future attacks.

In a separate series of operations, the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service executed specialized missions across various provinces, according to a statement from the Security Media Cell on Saturday.

In Anbar Province, the counterterrorism units arrested a person who was serving as the "Administrator in Oil Derivatives" within the remnants of ISIS in the region.
