Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council on Sunday denied circulating information regarding a wiretapping network case.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council on Sunday denied circulated information regarding a wiretapping network case, over which seven suspects, including Mohammed Juhi, have been arrested.

The statement from the judiciary’s media department said that it “confirms the inaccuracy of the information circulating on some social media sites regarding the investigation of what is known as the case of (Mohammad Juhi Network).”

“This information is based on analysis and jumping to conclusion away from the truth," the statement added.

On August 19, Iraqi MP Mustafa Sanad said that a network functioning inside the government building where the prime minister’s office is located were arrested for “"impersonating and eavesdropping on the phones of Iraqi politicians and MPs.”

According to Sanad, “the network was practicing several unclean acts, including wiretapping the phones of a number of MPs and politicians.”

Seven suspects have been arrested so far, the most prominent of whom is Mohammed Juhi, the assistant director of the administrative department in the Prime Minister's Office.

A familiar source told The New Region that Juhi was arrested “by following a link to one of the pages associated with him personally.

“Following the link led the National Security personnels directly to his home inside the Green Zone, where he was arrested,” he said

A senior official from Sudani’s office previously told The New Region that the network was formed during the government of former Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
