Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court has issued a new interpretation declaring that parliament’s mandate ends the moment the first ballot is cast on election day, rather than at the end of the traditional four-year term. The ruling challenges Article 56’s established timeline and raises legal questions over the validity of any parliamentary session held after voting begins, a legal advisor said.
