The Iraqi electoral body said they had not received any complaints regarding the voting process from the political parties and observers monitoring the polling stations.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq—The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) said voter turnout was increasing in the last hours of the Kurdistan Region’s parliamentary elections.

“The voter turnout in the election is increasing,” Aysar Yasin, an IHEC official told The New Region on Sunday afternoon.

Yasin added they had not faced any “big problems” in the process.

“Whatever problem arises, we will resolve it,” he said.

Commenting on complaints that some voters have had fingerprint identification issues on the voting machines, Yasin said “This problem has to do with the voters themselves.”
