A deadly explosion caused by war remnants stored inside a house detonating on Thursday in the town of al-Nayrab, eastern Idlib, killed at least six people, including two children and two women.

DUBAI, UAE - An explosion occurred in the town of al-Nayrab, in eastern Idlib province, on Thursday, after war remnants stored inside a house detonated, killing at least six people, including two children and two women, according to rescue teams and monitors.

 

“The blast destroyed the house, which belonged to a man who collected and sold war remnants as scrap,” the Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said in a statement. 

 

The explosion also injured a young girl, with search teams are continuing to look for a possible missing person under the rubble.

 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that the number of casualties could rise due to the presence of critically injured victims.

 

The White Helmets said their teams are taking strict safety precautions while working at the site to prevent further detonations.
