Mushriq Al-Furaiji, secretary-general of the "Nazil Akhudh Haqqi" movement, announced ongoing efforts to form a broad political alliance of over 20 civil entities ahead of Iraq’s November 2025 parliamentary elections.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Mushriq Al-Furaiji, secretary-general of the "Nazil Akhudh Haqqi" movement, announced ongoing efforts to form a broad political alliance of over 20 civil entities ahead of Iraq’s November 2025 parliamentary elections.

The secretary-general of the “Nazil Akhudh Haqqi” (Going to Claim My Right) movement said Saturday that a new electoral alliance comprising more than 20 civil political entities is expected to be announced soon.

Mushriq al-Furaiji told The New Region that a meeting held Friday at Baghdad’s al-Rasheed Hotel brought together several emerging civil and national political forces, including current lawmakers Adnan al-Zurfi and Sajad Salem, along with former members of parliament and ex-officials.

“The meeting aimed to establish a broad political alliance to unify these groups and address the upcoming phase in Iraq’s political landscape,” Furaiji said.

While the gathering did not result in a final agreement, Furaiji said another significant meeting is scheduled for later Saturday. He noted there is a “genuine intention” among participants to move forward with forming a unified alliance to contest the upcoming national elections.

“These meetings are expected to continue intensively throughout the week to reach a final agreement on the alliance and the civil forces and figures it will include,” he said.

Iraq is set to hold its next parliamentary elections on November 11, 2025, to choose members of the sixth session of the Council of Representatives.

The Independent High Electoral Commission has confirmed its readiness to carry out the vote, saying about 30 million Iraqis will be eligible to cast ballots.
