Dozens of high-profile guests from across the Arab world are set to attend the summit in the Iraqi capital.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS) will attend the upcoming Arab League summit in Iraq’s capital Baghdad on Saturday, a well-informed source confirmed to The New Region.

The source told The New Region that MBS’ staff has already arrived in Baghdad to arrange his visit, stressing that the Saudi Crown Prince will partake in the event barring any last minute changes.

In addition to MBS, other high-profile guests confirmed to attend the summit in the Iraqi capital include Jordan’s King Abdullah II, UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Baghdad will be home to the 34th Arab League Summit on May 17, where leaders from Arab states will gather and discuss the latest developments in the Arab world, this primarily includes the Israeli war on Gaza, as well as the new Syrian administration.

Iraqi government spokesperson Basim al-Awadi on Tuesday told state media that the upcoming summit is expected to be “one of the most mature Arab summits in terms of the level of representation and the quality of attendance.”

“Holding the summit in Baghdad carries important implications, including consolidating political and security stability, highlighting the maturity of the Iraqi state and its ability to host Arab leaders and kings, and discussing fundamental Arab issues,” Awadi added.
