"It is inconceivable that the executioner would appoint himself a judge and claim to offer justice," the Popular Mobilization Forces faction said of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace proposal.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq -  Kataib Hezbollah, an Iraqi faction within the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), on Sunday criticized US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the conflict in Gaza, the key points of which have been accepted by Hamas.

In a statement carried by The New Region, the group accused Washington of enabling what it called "Zionist barbarity" and genocide against Palestinians. It described Trump’s proposal as "full of traps" and even “more extreme than the positions of Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.”

Hamas on Friday announced that it had agreed to key points of a 20-point Trump proposal to end the war in Gaza, granting "its approval to release all occupation prisoners, alive and deceased, according to the exchange formula." The release of the hostages is set to begin a process whereby Israel will begin a phased withdrawal in the Strip and "250 life sentence prisoners plus 1,700 Gazans who were detained after 7 October 2023, including all women and children detained in that context," according to the plan.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that Israeli negotiators would depart for Cairo on Monday to begin indirect talks with Hamas.

"It is inconceivable that the executioner would appoint himself a judge and claim to offer justice," the statement said, pointing to nearly two years of what the group called massacres and displacement of Palestinians.

The Iran-backed militia said it trusted Palestinian resistance leaders to turn threats into opportunities for greater resilience, and that the patience of Palestinians would ultimately lead them to independence and liberation.

Kataib Hezbollah further urged Arab and Islamic states to support the Palestinian people, honor their sacrifices, and defend "their right to live with dignity on their ancestral land."

Iran-backed Iraqi armed groups claimed hundreds of attacks against Israeli and American targets after October 2023 and in response to the war in Gaza.
