Hamas said on Friday that Israel is delaying the entry of humanitarian aid and shelter materials into Gaza, worsening the suffering of displaced Palestinians as severe rainstorms flood their tents.

DUBAI, UAE - Hamas accused Israel on Friday of procrastinating the entry of humanitarian aid and shelter materials into the Gaza Strip, saying the delays have worsened the suffering of hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians as severe winter storms hit the enclave.

In a statement published on its official account, the movement said heavy rains in recent days have flooded “worn-out tents” across displacement camps, turning them into “muddy ponds” and leaving families without adequate protection from the cold. The scenes, it said, reflect “the growing suffering of our people in the besieged Gaza Strip.”

Hamas said the worsening weather conditions underscore an urgent need for immediate relief, medical supplies, and shelter assistance, warning that the humanitarian tragedy is deepening as winter advances.

The group called on the guarantors of the ceasefire, as well as the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to act quickly to ensure the delivery of aid and to increase “field, popular, and official support” to protect displaced residents and meet their basic needs.

The United States and nine regional countries said Friday they support a UN Security Council resolution backing the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.

In a statement, the US, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey said the plan, announced on September 29 and endorsed in Sharm el-Sheikh, offers a path to Palestinian self-determination, statehood, and regional stability.

The countries urged the Security Council to adopt the resolution “swiftly”.

Hamas on Monday accused Israel of repeatedly violating the internationally backed ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm al-Sheikh, warning that the breaches threaten to undermine the nearly month-old truce. The Palestinian group said it remains fully committed to the agreement and to international humanitarian law.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 69,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israel’s two-year-long military campaign in the Strip.

At least 260 have been killed in the Strip since the ceasefire went into effect, according to the health ministry.
