Several Gulf states said Sunday they were targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks overnight, with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE and Kuwait reporting interceptions, limited damage and a few injuries.

DUBAI, UAE - Several Gulf states said on Sunday that they were targeted by Iranian missile and drone strikes overnight, with air defenses intercepting most incoming threats, as Iran pressed its campaign against its Gulf neighbors into a second week.

The UAE’s defense ministry announced that 16 ballistic missiles and a total of 113 drones were intercepted on Sunday, asserting its readiness to “deal with any threats” and “respond firmly to any attempts to undermine the country’s stability.”

In Saudi Arabia, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed multiple drones approaching the capital Riyadh, with the Saudi defense ministry saying it downed groups of UAVs in separate incidents.

The ministry also said a drone targeting Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter was intercepted, confirming there were no civilian casualties or material damage. Another drone was also destroyed in the desert while heading toward the Shaybah oil field.

Qatar’s defense ministry reported that ten ballistic missiles and two cruise missiles launched from Iran targeted the country, saying Qatari forces intercepted six ballistic missiles and both of the cruise missiles.

The other missiles fell in territorial waters and landed in uninhabited areas. No casualties were reported.

In Bahrain, attacks by Iranian missiles and drones caused injuries and material damage. Three people were injured and a university building was damaged, according to the interior ministry. Authorities also reported damage to a water desalination plant following a drone attack.

Kuwait’s armed forces also said the country faced missile and drone threats overnight. The Kuwaiti army said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles that had entered the country’s airspace.

Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwaiti military said its air defenses and air force were responding to waves of hostile drones that penetrated the country’s airspace. Some civilian facilities sustained material damage after debris and fragments fell during interception operations, according to the army.

Authorities across the Gulf have urged residents to remain calm and follow safety instructions, stressing that their armed forces remain ready to respond to further threats.

The Gulf has sustained much of the damage dealt by Iran’s response to the US and Israel’s strikes.

On Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that the Islamic republic "will be forced to respond" against neighboring countries if their territory is used to attack Iran.

A day prior, Pezeshkian apologized to the neighboring countries for attacking their territory.
