"This is all the movement of the terrorist militias in Iraq and we reiterate that the Iraqi government are not taking it seriously," said Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw announced late Thursday that six French soldiers were wounded in a strike on a Peshmerga base in Makhmour's Mala Qara that houses a coalition presence.

No Peshmerga personnel were wounded in the incident, which the governor said involved two drones.

Iran and pro-Iran militias in Iraq have repeatedly targeted bases housing a US-led Global Coalition presence since the the beginning of the US-Israeli war against Iran.

"This is all the movement of the terrorist militias in Iraq and we reiterate that the Iraqi government are not taking it seriously," Xoshnaw said. "If these outlaws are part of the Iraqi government, then they are responsible. If they are not, then their security apparatus has a duty of reining these groups in."

An Italian military site in Erbil was targeted on Wednesday night, with no casualties being incurred during the incident.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani spoke with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Thursday regarding the matter, expressing his condemnation and stressing the importance of the federal government reining in pro-Iran armed groups operating in the country.

"The Iraqi government must fulfill its responsibility to protect diplomatic envoys and coalition forces and no longer allow illegal groups to endanger the country's security and interests," read a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency.

The unchecked activities of such factions has long been a criticism directed from Erbil toward Baghdad, with President Masoud Barzani having warned that the Kurdistan Region’s "patience has limits."
