ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - The US Camp Victory base in central Baghdad came under a drone attack late Friday night into early Saturday, with fires reported inside the facility, as pro-Iran Iraqi armed groups later claimed responsibility and said they had carried out multiple operations against US targets over the past 24 hours.
Located near Baghdad International Airport, the diplomatic facility has been frequently targeted since the launch of a US-Israeli military offensive against Iran in late February, with Ashab al-Kahf, part of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, said on Saturday claiming responsibility for the overnight strike.
The group said its operations will continue at an escalating pace and warned civilians to stay away from locations of US forces and what it described as “collaborators.”
No details of any casualties or material damage inflicted have been released so far.
A separate statement by Awliya Saraya al-Dam said its fighters had conducted six “qualitative operations” targeting US bases across Iraq within the past 24 hours, describing the attacks as retaliation linked to the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.
Footage circulated online showing fires inside the facility, while media outlets reported that the strikes directly targeted the logistical support center within the facility.

On Friday alone, three drones struck the vicinity of the diplomatic support facility at Baghdad International Airport within 24 hours.
The activities of pro-Iran factions, many of whom are officially under the auspices of the Iraqi state as part of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), in targeting US and Western bases has drawn condemnation from the Kurdistan Region, which has been repeatedly targeted.
On Saturday, Aziz Ahmad, Deputy Chief of Staff to Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, shared footage of the Camp Victory attack and wrote that it was carried out by "militias on the Iraqi government payroll."
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Thursday denied such charges, saying, "Accusing the [PMF] of carrying out actions outside the framework of the state and the law is an accusation that indicates either ignorance or represents deliberate misinformation, with its own objectives."
The PMF is "an essential force operating under the umbrella of the constitution and the law," his office said in a statement.
The US and Israel have targeted PMF positions since the beginning of the war, with Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri on Thursday saying that more than 60 PMF fighters have been killed and over 100 others wounded in attacks so far.
