ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Bases of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups were targeted in multiple drone attacks in the early hours of Thursday across the Kurdistan Region, with renewed strikes on the dissidents despite a ceasefire to the regional war.
The attacks were launched minutes apart early on Thursday, with several drones targeting the headquarters and camps of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups. The groups, namely the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan, and the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), told The New Region that no casualties were incurred.
The attacks come after US-Iran negotiations in Islamabad led to no deal, with the talks ending without an agreement after 21 hours. Central disputes such as Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions, war reparations, and control of the waterway remain unresolved.
A two-week ceasefire between Tehran and Washington is set to expire, and uncertainties remain over whether it will be extended.
The Iranian Kurdish opposition groups have been under heavy attacks from Iranian territory since Tuesday.

Before the early Thursday attacks, the Kurdistan Region Security Agency (Asayish) said a drone attack targeted Erbil province earlier on Wednesday, with no casualties reported, while noting that, in total, the Kurdistan Region has been hit by five separate drone attacks over the past 24 hours.
On Tuesday, a female member of the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan succumbed to her wounds sustained in an Iranian strike on the group’s base in Sulaimani’s Surdash area.
The Kurdistan Region’s counterterrorism service said that two suicide drones were directed toward Erbil province “from Iranian territory” and were intercepted and shot down by fighter jets.
The alliance of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups on Wednesday condemned the Iranian strike on the region and the death of a Peshmerga member, saying, “These attacks will only deepen the unity of Kurdistan’s political forces and people in their struggle to end oppression and occupation.”
