“The Iranian negotiating team informed the US side, through a Pakistani intermediary, that it will not be in Islamabad on Wednesday for various reasons,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency said.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Iran has made a final decision not to hold talks with the US in Pakistan on Wednesday, Iranian semi-official media confirmed, hours before the US-Iran ceasefire expires.

“The Iranian negotiating team informed the US side, through a Pakistani intermediary, that it will not be in Islamabad on Wednesday for various reasons,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency said.

The decision comes amid reports that US Vice President JD Vance has canceled his trip to Islamabad, with the Wall Street Journal saying that Trump has reportedly been pressuring him to cancel the talks.

Despite Tehran saying “there is currently no possibility of participating” in the talks, Tasnim did not rule out talks in the coming days.

“Iran will not be present in Pakistan tomorrow to fully protect the rights of its people,” the statement added.

Iran and the United States were initially set to meet on Tuesday for another round of talks in Islamabad as the ceasefire deadline nears expiration, aiming to reach a possible deal to formally end the war.

Washington and Tehran have repeatedly blamed each other for violating the ceasefire.
