“Tehran launched an attack at 1:24 AM using four drones against one of the bases of the [PAK],” wounding three members, the group said in a statement.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), an Iranian Kurdish opposition group, said one of its bases near Erbil came under an Iranian drone attack early Wednesday, resulting in the injury of three fighters, hours after US President Donald Trump extended the ceasefire with Iran.

“Tehran launched an attack at 1:24 AM using four drones against one of the bases of the [PAK],” wounding three members, the group said in a statement.

The targeted base is situated near the region’s capital of Erbil, PAK added.

The attack came two hours after Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire deal with Iran at Pakistan’s request, shortly before the agreement’s expiry.

Despite the ceasefire announced weeks ago, Tehran has continued its attacks on Iranian Kurdish opposition groups with bases in the Kurdistan Region, claiming the groups are not exempt from the agreement.

On Friday, purported Iranian strikes killed three members, including two women fighters, of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), another dissent group, and injured several others.

In addition, a woman member of the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan succumbed to her wounds sustained in an Iranian strike on the group’s base in Sulaimani’s Surdash area the week prior.

The alliance of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups condemned the Iranian strikes on the Kurdistan Region and the death of one of their fighters, saying, “these attacks will only deepen the unity of Kurdistan’s political forces and people in their struggle to end oppression and occupation.”

The alliance also called on Baghdad to take “practical, legal, and transparent steps” to protect political refugees and prevent the recurrence of attacks on the groups’ bases in the Kurdistan Region, in a Friday statement.

The groups also criticized UN officials in Erbil and Baghdad, claiming that their passivity “further emboldened” the Islamic Republic to “commit greater aggression and terrorism”
