The KDPI and Komala both said they were targeted in the strikes.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq - Two Iranian Kurdish opposition groups’ civilian bases and camps were targeted in seven missile and drone attacks across the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil province late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with no casualties reported, marking another attack by Iran despite a ceasefire effectively remaining in place.

Since the US-Israel war with Iran began in late February, the Kurdistan Region has come under hundreds of drone and missile attacks, which are ongoing despite a ceasefire between the warring parties.

Negotiations between Washington and Tehran have stalled since the ceasefire began, with no clear timeline for when face-to-face talks might resume.

The opposition Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) said in a statement that “three drones struck the Zewi Aspi base” during overnight attacks late Wednesday in Erbil province’s Koya district, targeting the group's civilian camps and bases.

“Iran has attacked KDPI bases 119 times since late February,” it added.

Simultaneously, four missile attacks targeted the Iranian Kurdish opposition group Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan’s Balisan camp in Erbil province overnight, with senior party member Ali Ranjbari telling The New Region that no casualties were reported.

Ranjbari noted that two of the missiles were intercepted in the sky, while the other two fell near the group’s camps.

Both opposition groups stressed that the attacks were launched toward the Kurdistan Region from Iran, marking the second round of attacks on the two opposition groups in a single day.

“Even while Tehran talks ‘peace,’ it exports terror against Kurds and violates Iraqi/Kurdistan Region sovereignty,” Hejar Berenji, the KDPI’s US representative, said in a post on X.

“The IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] is again targeting the Kurdistan Region of Iraq with drones including Kurdish civilian camps,” Berenji added, stressing that “this must stop.”

The strikes carried out against the opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region have killed 10 people and wounded several others since late February, following the outbreak of the US-Israel war with Iran.
