DUBAI, UAE – Iraq’s Iran-backed Kata’ib Hezbollah faction reaffirmed its support for Palestinians on Sunday, a day after the ceasefire in Gaza took effect, vowing to restore all Palestinian land “from the river to the sea.”
The group’s Secretary-General, Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, emphasized “the religious and moral duty to stand against injustice”, particularly in defense of Gaza, calling it a “symbol of resilience against oppression.”
“The duty to confront the enemies of our nation, especially in steadfast Gaza, is divinely mandated,” Hamidawi said. “This directive reaffirms the necessity of standing against oppression no matter the sacrifices. For this reason, the front of truth has offered martyrs leaders and heroic fighters with immense pride, led by the martyr of Islam, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah.”
The Gaza ceasefire took effect around noon on Sunday, with the first phase of the truce deal successfully implemented after Hamas handed over three female hostages, and later Israel released 90 Palestinian detainees.
The terms of a broader peace deal would be finalized once the first phase of the ceasefire has concluded.
Hamidawi accused Israel of failing to subdue the Palestinian resistance despite significant US support, calling their actions against unarmed civilians “unparalleled brutality.”
He praised the Palestinians’ perseverance, describing it as a global symbol of defiance and a testament to nations that refuse to surrender their rights.
“Despite the Zionists’ unlimited American support and their unmatched savagery, they have been irreparably broken by the legendary steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance and its patient people,” he said.
The leader of the Kata’ib Hezbollah said they were committed to supporting the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem, vowing to remain vigilant against future threats.
“The Palestinians are our brothers, and the cause of Jerusalem is our cause,” Hamidawi said. “Restoring the occupied land of Palestine, from the river to the sea, is our goal and the goal of all honorable and free people. The Zionists are treacherous, and vigilance is essential. We must remain fully prepared to defend our sanctities until the rightful owners reclaim their rights.”
