“The world will go on, and the Muslims in Gaza and Palestine will survive. I have said it many times and will reiterate here: Hamas, the jihad, and jihadists will not crumble; they will succeed, and you will see,” Ali Bapir, the head of the Kurdistan Justice Group (Komal), said.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The head of the Kurdistan Justice Group (Komal), a small Islamic opposition party in the Kurdistan Region, on Saturday took to a stage of his party’s congress and predicted the fall of Israel and said that the Palestinian resistance groups such as Hamas will eventually succeed.

Komal on Saturday held their fifth congress in Erbil, where the incumbent leader of the party, Ali Bapir, was re-elected as the party’s chairman in a vote. The reelected party leader addressed the congress in a speech, touching on a number of regional and global issues, including the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“The world will go on, and the Muslims in Gaza and Palestine will survive. I have said it many times and will reiterate here: Hamas, the jihad, and jihadists will not crumble; they will succeed, and you will see,” said Bapir, adding that “the Zionist entity will dissolve… that is how I understand it,” while also calling to “rally behind this cause to the best of our abilities.”

Bapir noted that the world order has changed from a unipolar authority to a multipolar one, with countries like China and Russia contesting the US’ power and authority over world affairs. He lamented Israel and the US’ attacks on Iran while negotiations were being held between Iran and Washington.

The political party was officially known as the Kurdistan Islamic Group before they dropped the “Islamic” label in favor of the less classificatory term Justice, changing the word “emir” to refer to the party’s leader to “president”.

The party currently has three MPs enlisted in the Kurdistan Region’s parliament, down from seven in the previous term, with only one MP in the Iraqi parliament, Soran Omar.

Komal was started by Ali Bapir as an offshoot of the Islamic Movement of Kurdistan, and has previously commanded an Islamic militia in the Kurdistan Region, which has since been dissolved. The party currently operates in the Kurdistan Region’s political arena as an opposition party.
