“I would like to thank all the citizens of Kurdistan for their loyal voice in collecting donations for our brothers and sisters in Rojava,” President Barzani said in a statement.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday thanked the Kurdistan Region residents, the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), and other entities for collecting aid for Rojava (northeast Syria) during brutal attacks on the region by the Syrian Arab Army and its affiliated factions.

“I would like to thank all the citizens of Kurdistan for their loyal voice in collecting donations for our brothers and sisters in Rojava,” President Barzani said in a statement.

The Kurdish leader also thanked BCF “and all the organizations, parties, personalities and media that have played a role in collecting aid for our brothers and sisters in the West [Rojava], and I appreciate their efforts.”

The Syrian Arab Army and its factions launched a series of brutal attacks on areas held by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and imposed a suffocating siege on the Kurdish city of Kobane, which in addition to its residents, is hosting thousands of displaced people who fled areas now under Damascus’ control.

The Erbil-based Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) announced days prior that it has delivered humanitarian aid to more than 9,000 families in Rojava, with nearly 58,000 people benefiting from the assistance.

In addition, residents from the Kurdistan Region raised around 480,000 dollars across the Region’s four provinces, head of the Kurdistan Region’s Board of Investment Mohammed Shukri revealed in a presser.

Aid was also delivered from Kirkuk, where the local community dispatched dozens of trucks carrying hundreds of tons of food in addition to monetary donations.

“This attitude has an impact on the rise of patriotism and national consciousness,” Barzani said, noting that the people and organizations performed “a national duty in the best possible way.”

“The beloved people of Kurdistan once again reaffirmed to the whole world that the Kurdish people share each other's happiness and sorrow.”
