“I mean complete demolition by 12 o'clock, and it'll happen over a period of four hours,” he threatened, adding that he does not wish for the plan to be carried out.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened a plan by which Iran’s energy and national infrastructure will be “decimated” by Tuesday at midnight, four hours after a deadline set for 8 PM expires.

“Every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night,” Trump said in a briefing on the Iran war, adding that “every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding and Never to be used again.”

On Sunday, Trump warned to target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday at 8 PM, if maritime traffic at the vital Strait of Hormuz remains restricted, which has led to a steep rise in fuel prices globally.

“I mean complete demolition by 12 o'clock, and it'll happen over a period of four hours,” he threatened, adding that he does not wish for the plan to be carried out.

“Do I want to do that? No. Do I want to destroy their infrastructure? No, it will take them 100 years to rebuild right now … and it would never be as good as it was.”

Trump’s deadline was an extension of a previous warning on Saturday to strike Iran “in two days,” should Iranian authorities fail to strike a deal with Washington or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In phone call on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly urged the US president not to pursue a ceasefire “at this stage,” with Iran, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid reported on Monday, citing an Israeli source.

Meanwhile, Iran has set a series of demands for a “permanent” end to the war with the US, including a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the lifting of sanctions, a state media reporter revealed on Monday.

The American president stressed that a deal may be within reach if Iran agrees to US demands, but that he will not give up his demand that Tehran hand over all enriched uranium and agree not to renew enrichment.
