“The Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan calls on nations, the United Nations, and international bodies to take a position against these attacks by the Islamic Republic,” the groups said in a statement.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The alliance of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups on Thursday condemned the repeated Iranian strikes on their bases in the Kurdistan Region, calling on the UN and the international community to take a stand against the attacks.

Camps housing Iranian Kurdish opposition members in the Kurdistan Region have been repeatedly targeted by Iranian strikes since the outbreak of the regional conflict, with attacks continuing despite a ceasefire agreement announced between the US and Iran weeks ago.

“The Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan calls on nations, the United Nations, and international bodies to take a position against these attacks by the Islamic Republic,” the groups said in a statement.

In a previous statement on Friday, the alliance criticized UN officials in Erbil and Baghdad, claiming that their passivity “further emboldened” the Islamic Republic to “commit greater aggression and terrorism.”

The coalition accused the Islamic republic of having conducted “more than 150 direct attacks” against the refugee camps housing the families of the opposition members in the Kurdistan Region since the onset of the war, which have resulted in the death of at least ten people.

Most recently, a Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) near Erbil was subject to a purported Iranian drone attack on Wednesday, which left three individuals injured.

On Friday, purported Iranian strikes killed three members, including two women fighters, of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), another dissent group, and injured several others.

In addition, a woman member of the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan succumbed to her wounds sustained in an Iranian strike on the group’s base in Sulaimani’s Surdash area the week prior.

“We express our full support for the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, and we consider the targeting of consulates, political camps, and civilian residential areas a violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime,” the alliance added.

It also called on Kurds in the diaspora to “stand, in unity and with national responsibility, in the streets and in front of embassies and decision-making centers, to become the voice of the struggle and resistance of our people.”
