"The Federal Government in Baghdad has repeatedly been urged to identify, prosecute and hold accountable the perpetrators of these terrorist acts and take the necessary measures to bring an end to these unlawful assaults," the Kurdistan Regional Government said.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said Saturday that the Kurdistan Region has been targeted in a total of 809 attacks since the beginning of the US-Israeli war on Iran to April 20, including 701 drone strikes and 108 missile attacks, under what it described as "unfounded pretexts."

“Several times, through drone and missile strikes, under various and baseless pretexts, civilian areas, property and homes of citizens, and the private sector in the Kurdistan Region have been targeted,” the KRG Media Directorate said in a statement Saturday.

"According to the data, despite its neutrality in the conflict, the Kurdistan Region ranks first among non-combatant territories in terms of casualties and material damage."

It added that a total of 809 attacks on the Kurdistan Region have been recorded, including 701 drone strikes and 108 missile attacks, from February 28th to April 20th.

Erbil province was recorded as the most targeted area, with 477 attacks, while Sulaimani province and Halabja together ranked second with 235 attacks, and the Soran independent administration came third with 68 attacks.

“Despite the Kurdistan Region's neutrality in the war, 20 martyrs and 123 wounded have been recorded,” the KRG added, with other monitors reported that at least two more fatalities have been incurred since April 20.

The KRG stressed that “hundreds of citizens also suffered material damage” to their property, adding that 726 citizens sustained property damage only in Erbil province.

On Friday, the Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) reported that the Kurdistan Region has been targeted almost 50 times by Iran and pro-Iran militias since the reaching of a US-Iran ceasefire on April 8.

"The Federal Government in Baghdad has repeatedly been urged to identify, prosecute and hold accountable the perpetrators of these terrorist acts and take the necessary measures to bring an end to these unlawful assaults," the publication added, with many of the Iran-aligned factions implicated in attacks on the Region being on Baghdad's payroll as components of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

CPT said that during the ceasefire period, 75 percent of the attacks were carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while the remaining 25 percent were conducted by pro-Iran Iraqi militia groups.

Although data published by CPT recorded 695 total attacks on the Kurdistan Region since the beginning of the war up to Friday.

Erbil has long insisted on its neutrality in the conflict, having previously strenuously denied US media reports that Kurdish dissident forces were preparing for a cross-border offensive into Iran and warning of the dangers of irresponsible journalism.
