The Iraqi Resistance Coordination rejected accusations linking it to the attack on the Khor Mor gas field in the Kurdistan Region, saying media claims aim to obscure a wider regional conflict.

DUBAI, UAE - The Iraqi Resistance Coordination on Saturday denied involvement in the recent attack on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaimani province, rejecting media claims that its factions were responsible for the strike on critical energy infrastructure.

In a statement, the group said accusations by what it described as “biased media” were driven by parties seeking to create confusion and “cover up a regional conflict.”

It stressed that resistance factions “do not target civilian sites” and that their weapons remain “directed solely at the occupation.”

The group added it is prepared to join investigations into repeated attacks on infrastructure and national resources, saying it has previously offered to take part in broader air defense coordination to help secure Iraqi airspace and advance “full national sovereignty.”

US Special Envoy to Iraq Mark Savaya wrote on Saturday that Iraq can assume a larger regional role “provided that the issue of weapons outside state control is fully resolved and the prestige of official institutions is protected.”

The diplomat emphasized the need to respect the constitution, strengthen the separation of powers, and keep politics free from outside or unofficial influence as essential steps toward building a stronger and more respected Iraq.
