Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday that it used about “30 drones” to strike Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region, vowing a “decisive and rapid confrontation."

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – An Iranian attack on Wednesday targeting a base belonging to exiled Kurdish opposition Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) in Erbil’s Koya district has killed at least one person.

The base was attacked with three drones, resulting in one dead and one injured, Degala subdistrict mayor Soran Hawezi told The New Region.

The base is located in Koya's Saqa cave, and has been targeted several times in recent days by Iran, after the Islamic regime begun a retaliatory campaign targeting its adversaries across the region in light of the US-Israeli war on the country.

On Tuesday, PAK reported that the area was targeted by Iranian drones, as the Islamic republic intensifies attacks on Kurdish dissident groups headquartered in the Kurdistan Region.

The dissident parties, many of whom are based in the Kurdistan Region, have long been military targets for Iran, drawing concerns from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) over the Region’s security.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday that it used about “30 drones” to strike Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region, vowing a “decisive and rapid confrontation."

IRGC said that the opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region were “planning to infiltrate and act against the sacred territory of the Islamic homeland.”

Also on Tuesday, at least three Iranian drones targeted Azadi Camp, previously housing members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) and their families, in Koya, injuring at least one.
